Day 10 - January 3, 2017 John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park Key Largo, FLa

After three days of organizing and relaxing from the very long traffic filled drive down here, we are packing up to move to our destination CG.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this but the weather has been unseasonable hot and humid for this time of year. The weather people on TV keep talking about hoping for a break in the heat. We have been in the keys before and it has never been this hot and humid. We are hoping for it to be a little cooler when we are closer to the ocean.

It was an uneventful 24 mile drive to John Pennekamp today.
On arrival we were surprised at the number of vehicles entering the park. The day use areas were packed.

Our site is fairly narrow and tight but my expert driver got the MH in  with one try. Our neighbors to the left came over to help move the picnic bench out of the way so we could get the MH in without incident.

The cool down we were hoping for near the water didn't happen. It is so hot and humid that just about every RV is closed up with the AC's running.  Soooo, once set up we put our front AC on only to find that it wouldn't work. HMMMM - not so good here in the Florida heat and humidity. Our back AC is working so will have to improvise until Ron can figure out what is wrong. After several attempts and trouble shooting Ron determined the front AC is dead.
So two hours later we are less hot but not cool. The back AC is working beautifully and we have fans running to circulate the air. It is working well and I think we will survive despite the fact that we BOTH now cannot tolerate the 82 % humidity. lol

Around 4 pm  we took Jewel for a walk to explore the CG. She is  very happy here and has her bounce back in her step. We came to what looked like a natural flowing spring with lime accumulation on the rocks, however it turned out to be a well.

It was a little cooler so we continued on our walk to the docks.
There are several options here for touring out on the water. We will be here for two weeks so plan to take in some if not all of the activities. View of the landing for putting in kayaks and for swimmers.

Back at the MH we had dinner and settled in for the night. We could not get any English speaking TV channels but were able to get several Spanish speaking channels. No TV tonight for us!
